I only have one. It’s graded by PCGS as a MS-70, First Strike. The label also notes the Baseball Hall of Fame. It’s dated 2014-D. The mint mark is on the first photo at 8 o’clock, just above the stitches on the ball. The words HALF DOLLAR are at 6 o’clock. The reverse shows the glove and it’s signed by Cal Ripken Jr. I had to have this as I love the Orioles, my sister was the executive secretary for the VP of the ball club before her passing and Cal is one nice fellow.
...and @Collecting Nut, that's really a cool piece. I'm glad it's an actual signature/autograph, and not something mass printed. Congrats and enjoy!
Really like the coin. Cal is my favorite player. Have 600+ different cards plus thousands others. Last few shows I've been to, no Cal baseball coin. Maybe this year at the ANA.
I've got all 3 varieties/versions of the Billy card. Got them in '89 in packs. Fun stuff for a teenager!
If I remember correctly, when this happened, there were 3 main versions and the blackout version had a number of different blackouts. We call them varieties.
I had all the varieties. BY FAR, what Bill Ripken will ALWAYS be remembered for. His brother has one of greatest records in sports imo.
I went to a lot of O's games in the '82-'83 seasons at Memorial Stadium. I would get there early to take pictures of the players taking BP and giving interviews. I got pictures of Eddie Murray and Jim Palmer being interviewed...and Cal "Ride'n His Daddy's Coattails" Ripken kept jumping into the frame.
I think the white out variety is the most valuable one as well. Even in raw condition, it’s worth like $100. Obviously a PSA10 would be much much more bet extremely difficult to grade that high.
Here is the population of the varieties on PSA’s website. The whited out variety in PSA 10 has sold for $1,000+ multiple times. @Collecting Nut so sorry for hijacking your thread!
