I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I would vote for high voltage on the door to your coin room. You could activate it when you leave the house. Barbeque anyone?
House invasions are certainly up. Especially this time of the year and with the economy its real bad. Lord help the poor souls who break into my adobe should I be home. They most certainly would spring a few leaks before they left. Rambo on the prowl..
That's just awful...I wonder what does through these people's heads when they pick up and steal wrapped christmas gifts. So freaking dispicable!!!
I agree with GD, totally illegal. In Lansing last year a man boobie trapped his door as he kept getting broken into. When he got back from wherever he was, he must have forgotten and opened the door. Blew off his arm and shoulder. AND he got arrested.
You might make sure to cancel any credit cards/account numbers that were on your laptop. Or put a credit watch in place. Sorry for your loss. That sucks.
I hope you were eventually able to enjoy Christmas. www.collectinsure.com also insure coin collectors. PS: I have been bugging my husband for months to get a safe. We have found some pretty basic safes at Tractor Supply and also Costco.
Something to think about where you buy your safes. Another member just posted this YouTube link the other day. The demo is a little dramatic and in a controlled environment but the speach the presenter gives is where the message is at: security on sale
I give choices to anyone who enters my adobe.. S&W, Glock, Ruger, Beretta, 40, 44 mag, 9mm, 45ACP....you pick..
Bummer. My big dog finally got used up. Only left with the 45 lb ankle biter. But I currently like my neighbors so I've reverted to the short 12 ga for bad times. Beretta .40 left hand, H&K .40 right hand and if it gets tough then the Redhawk will be the last attempt pulled from my cold dead whatever.
The cops told me that the law changed in Missouri so we can now shoot them when they're in our yard, and I guess as many times as we need to get the job done.
Had a similar circumstance a couple of years back, Thought about it And went out and bought a 1,500lb safe, I cant move it and they cant Either........ LOL
Really sorry to hear about your robbery. Something else is happening with your home. If this is the second time, that usually means either your home is apealing to criminals or the more likely, word is out that you have a lot of valubles there. This is common when you have lots of visitors in your home. It may not be relatives, ndighbors, friends but the many that they discuss your home with. That second time should make you wonder just what is going on. Have you checked to see if others in your area have also been robbed? If so, then just a poor area for crime, maybe. If not, your home is a target and you should attempt to find out how and why. Growing up in a really high crime area I've learned just how stories of what people have in their homes starts. And it grows and grows. As to the crime rate not going up? Yeah, right. If you live in some of these high crime areas, you well know what is happening. Just less and less crimes are going on the books so that the local politians appear to have solved the crime rate. Yes in some areas like Chicago the murder rate has dropped from the usual 700+/year but that is only what is reported. In the last few years there has been numerous robberies in my area and none, NONE have made the newspapers. None make any stories on TV, the radio, no where. Nice way to stop crime, just don't mention it.
Exactly the same thing happened to me 5 years ago this Christmas no coins stolen just all the Christmas presents, my wife and I had to redo all the shopping on Christmas eve. The guy was caught a month later robbing another house in a near by area and they were able to match finger prints from the window he climbed in we didn't get anything back but was satisfied he was caught and it was his 3rd strike according to the PD which means in CA. 25 years in prison. See ya pal!
