Well tonight I won my first auction, actually first 2 auctions, on teletrade. I have read that many of you buy from and are happy with teletrade so I decided to give it a shot.

Here are my first two wins:

    http://www.teletrade.com/coins/lot.asp?auction=2792&lot=1641

They came out to be $20 each after the buyers fee. I am young and have a limited budget, so I was only able to afford coins in this price range. I am happy with my win and cant wait to see them in person. I hope after college when I get a job, I will be able to buy better coins and upgrade the coins I have, but my rule is to never sell once I have a graded coin unless to upgrade.

Numismedia puts my total at $78.80, that not so bad considering I payed $45 after shipping.

louielot....nice pick-ups! Teletrade can be a good place to find some nice coins....though 'good deals' are far and few between there, due to their fees and high shipping costs (they DON'T combine shipping, so for your 2 wins, that would be $16 for shipping......returns, well, that's another not-so heartwarming story for another time). Also, don't judge pricing by any single pricing guide...averaging the sold prices on Teletrade, Heritage, and ebay will give you a better idea of what they are actually going for. Not trying to take the wind out of your sails, just putting it out there (actually, PCGS price guide puts you at $112, BUT, their price guide is strictly for PCGS graded coins). Enjoy the coins (I prefer blast white coins myself, so I really like your wins!), I know I'd be happy (had I been online, you may have had to pay a bit more)!!! Congrats!!

Well I ordered 10 different coins in a Teletrade auction last month and my total shipping charge was $13.25, so I'm pretty sure they DO combine their shipping costs unless there was a change effective 1/1/2010.

If I win more than one coin in any one auction, I get charged shipping on each coin (except during last month, when shipping was free)!!! I never questioned it, nor thought twice about it. Now I have to go back and check all my invoices.....

TT will only let you search online for 90 days. The only multiple lot wins were in Dec, so looks like a call to Irma (or Gil....he's easier to deal with) is in order tomorrow. I would bet my last dime I've been charged shipping charges for each coin in multiple win situations.

Thanks for bringing that up, illini420.

    Here's Teletrade's Shipping info.

    http://www.teletrade.com/coins/help/fees.asp#postage

They base you shipping cost on the total invoice price of all coins bought in the auction. Then they charge an extra quarter per coin you win.

So for me, I won 10 coins at a total price of around $550. So that puts my total shipping at $11.75 based on their chart, plus an additional $2.50 (10 coins at $.25 each). So my total cost was $13.25 and that matches my invoice. Seemed pretty fair to me, especially since they had to mail it to Hawaii since I have my address there as my listed address.

My win was in November so I didn't get the free shipping, bummer!!

    $8.

And my shipping cost me $5.25, combined. They do add $.25 a coin though.

TT was offering free shipping on ALL auction in the month of December 2009. I won two auctions over the course of two days. No combined invoice, and the items arrived in two separate envelopes.

I might be wrong, but I think they only combine shipping if the coins are in the same auction.

That's the one thing about TT that could be fixed IMO for the ease of the customer. I'd like the ability to win items and pay for multiple lots on one invoice and have the items sent in one parcel. Seems TT would save a lot of time packing items this way. Customers would have less parcels to track and sign for. Say they offered customers the ability to collect auction wins and make a single purchase due within 30 days of the first item won, with a CC on file in case of non-payment, in which case they'd just take payment and send the items. If a customer just wanted to bid in 5 or 6 lots over the course of two weeks worth of TT auctions and once finished bidding submitted payment, the items would be sent sooner due to completing the transaction for those lots. Just a thought on how it might be improved.

Same here, krispy. Mine were for a Sunday, and Monday auction (consecutive nights). Both invoices were paid at the same time, and like you, were shipped in 2 seperate packages, one arriving 3 days after the first.

If you win coins on the same day you will get combine shipping but if you win auctions on different days they will not combine the shipping and you will get the coins in different packages.
