Reposting in hopes someone can tell me typology of this coin. It came to me listed as AlexanderIII. I am not sure that is correct. I cannot find a SNG COP 1031 as Alexander….Second post, hope someone knows something about it. Not a valuable coin by any means, but I would like to be sure of attribution.
Probably Kassander: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=399086 https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=6464674
Thank you very much, I will relabel and call it done… Really appreciate reply. How did you reference it?
Here is one where you can read "Kassander" despite the overly-thick sand patina (The K is in a strategic location beneath the horse's tail): Macedonia Kingdom Æ 18 Kassander (c. 317-305 B.C.) Pella or Amphipolis mint Head of Herakles right, wearing lionskin / BAΣIΛEΩΣ KAΣΣANΔΡO[Y] above and below youth on horse right, YΠ? monogram right field, Θ? below. Mionnet I, 783 ? (see reverse). (5.68 grams / 18 mm) eBay Dec. 2020 Attribution Notes: Monogram right is similar to: 1. Wildwinds: YΠ monogram in upper right field, Θ below. Mionnet I, 783; Babelon Paris Inventory 1247. 2. Wildwinds: ΦΛ below horse, SNG Cop 1146 corr.; this looks like monogram to right on mine.
