GSA Morgan Silver Dollars: Where Are They ?

Discussion in 'US Coins Forum' started by GoldFinger1969, Dec 25, 2020.

  1. I have no idea, we only discussed the common date ones that I was willing to let go. Sorry, I couldn't help you more. Steve.

    Any source for that ?

I'm trying to wonder why foreign speculators would be interested in U.S. silver dollars (as opposed to gold coins).

Silver price rise + increased interest in GSAs + Covid buying = Higher Prices For Affordable Stuff. :D

I wonder about that, as the order forms that I've seen did not have provisions for non US addresses.

Probably thereason there weren't more submitted in the early years of the TPG's was because they just weren't worth submitting. During the first three years of the TPG's these were $90 - $100 coins. In the mid 80's they $60 - $70. Paying shipping both ways and grading fees at those levels probably wasn't economically feasible

  8. In my opinion the 81 and the 85,I would definitely say yes. The 83 from the pictures is a hard call, if you think that it is a DMPL ,I would say yes. If you don't think that it's a DMPL, then I would say no. That's just my opinion for what it's worth. Steve.

    I don't think the 83 is a DMPL. It has a 75/25 shot a PL.

  10. The price difference is if it's a DMPL or not. If it's PL there is not much of a premium, but that's for you to decide. I hope that this was useful information, but like I said before, it's just my opinion. Thanks Steve.

PRICEY GSAs: Just wondering for those of you more familiar with high-end (GSA) Morgans....are there many that sell for 5-figures and up ?

I saw one the other day up for sale and bidding was over $20,000....was just clicking around, trying to re-find it now....I believe it was an MS-67 CAC DMPL coin, not sure what year or if it was CC or not.

Got me wondering what the most expensive GSAs might sell for.

No better or worse than a non-GSA at the grade I’d think.
