Hi everyone. I have a pop machine and decided to look through the change that has been building up. I found a 1947 nickle with errors on it and this quarter with a W mint mark. It is my first one with a W on it, I had no idea what it was until I looked into it. Just thought I'd share! Anyone collect these and should I keep it in a flip or? Do you guys think they will ever be worth having them slabed and graded?
Yes.....Put the W quarter in a flip and save it. There were only 2 million of each design made. Right now they are selling in the $10 to$15 dollar range. Some have been graded, but probably not worth it unless it will grade in the high 60's(67 up).
Some designs seem to have higher premiums, like the American Memorial Park. A few months ago, this design was selling for $45. They've decreased in value a little since then but still great finds for face value.
I live in the Northwest and recently found my first W quarter, I was shocked. I immediately Red Booked the value, sealed it, and inventoried the coin. They are a bit rare, especially out here. Congratulations on your find.
Your coin also has “V75” on it as well as the “W” mint mark. This, the 75th anniversary of victory in Europe WWII, should add a little more to the value. I also found my “W” qtr in the Pacific Northwest (live in NC). I understand that the Westpoint mint divides half of their production between Denver and Philadelphia and each handles local distribution.
