Hey guys, I recently came across this and was just wondering if there was some history or reasoning to it. I couldn't find anything online like it which makes me think it's a 1off. But I figured if anyone would have an idea it would be someone here. It weighs in at 11.9258g which seems a little on the heavy side even with the band setting. Could there be another coin between the 2 '60 D's? It's thick enough to hide something between them.

Nope. The coin in question is in a jewelry bezel of some sort.

At that weight it could be 3 cents banded together.

How about putting a cent in both ends of a copper tube and tapping it down...

Well it didn’t come from the mint that way.

Looks like a spooned clad quarter with a cent inserted.

So what I'm hearing is this has nothing to do with anything? Just something someone made because they could? I was kinda hoping for a story, lol.

It's 2 separate 1960 D cents with the obverse of each facing out. But adding up the weights of a clad quarter and 2 copper cents gives me 11.89g which is really close to the weight of this thing.

And if it is a clad quarter it would also mean that the earliest it could have been made was in 1965 when they started making clad quarters. Which is also kinda another let down.

I mean, looks like one of the 60Ds is a small date at least? lol
I'd try popping them out to see if the bezel or whatever it is, is actually a spooned quarter.

I've tried several times. Even rolled it down the steps for half an hour thinking one would eventually fall out, lol.

Short of damaging the cents I'm not sure how to get them out. I'm thinking the bezel was either hammered around the cents or they glued them in with epoxy.
