This is my half sized hockey puck. Ptolemy V Ae Drachm200-180 BC Obv Head of Zeus Ammon right with rams horn over ear and wearing taenia Rv Two eagles wings folded standing left Svoronos 1423 37. 63 grms 35 mm photo by W. Hansen Currently these coins are ascribed to the reign of Ptolemy V though it is possible that this group was initially minted during the latter years of Ptolemy IV. The most up to date analysis of this coinage was conducted by Lorber and Faucher in 2010 and my coin is within Series 6 B
Nice hockey-puck, jr. you got there. These can be tricky to attribute, but here is one that I have that is similar, I think: Ptolemy VI-VIII Æ 28 Alexandria Lorber & Faucher Series 7C (c. 169-c. 130 B.C.) Diademed head Zeus-Ammon / ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ BΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ; Two eagles with wings closed standing left on thunderbolt; cornucopia to left. Svoronos 1424-B. (21.56 grams / 28 X 25 mm) eBay June 2018 My go-to site for these is: http://ptolemybronze.com/ptolemy_series.html Edit: Here is a somewhat improved photo I just found, same coin:
Nice one @ominus1 . I think these are all cool. Egypt Ptolemy IV 221-205 BC AE 37mm 42g Drachm Zeus-Ammon Eagle Tbolt SV 974
Good centering and strong portrait of Zeus! Only with the Ptolemies do we consider 22 grams small! I've no large Ptolemies so will instead share a coin that is highly debated as Cleopatra VII: Ptolemy IV Philopator (?) 222-205/4 BCE Æ (11.5mm, 1.39 g, 12h). Uncertain mint on Cyprus. Diademed head of female (Aphrodite/Arsinoe III or Cleopatra VII?) right / Filleted cornucopia. Svoronos 1161; SNG Copenhagen 649. VF
