Here are two coins, with the same serial number on the slab, but the coins look significantly different. Any opinions on this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220534441315&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=1116&Lot_No=2503&src=pr#
Yes, they fake slabs. Sellers location China. Gee http://coins.about.com/od/coingrading/ig/Fake-PCGS-Slab-Diagnostics/
I don't even need to look at both coins. Item Location: China is all I need to know and I will not be buying.
Heck with reporting it to eBay. They're the Keystone cops of policing this sort of thing. DEFINITELY report this to PCGS.
Just getting started in coin collecting etc. . . I really am thankful for this kind of info. There sure is lots of info to digest before 'pulling the trigger'. Thanks Jon
The coin had already been sold by the time I posted the link here. So I'm not sure how much of a difference it will make.
I have had one removed after the sale. The sale can still proceed if both parties allow it. If nothing else, it forewarns the buyer and either puts a strike against or removes the seller.
I saw this thread yesterday and contacted Heritage auctions about it. The cataloger from Heritage contacted me today and I referred him to this post. Too bad the auction has been removed from ebay, it would have been more info. Is there any way to see removed auctions? I'd guess not.
Just guessing, he MIGHT be able to if he has good contacts at eBay, but so far as I know for us peons and even the eBay reps, once removed, it is gone.
