Hi all, I actuary posted this is the coin roll hunting thread but I think it may be better posted here as it’s a possible error. Over the last two weeks I have only managed to get BU dimes ( around 10 at a time ) from the bank due to another apparent coin shortage. I wasn’t hopeful of finding anything interesting but without other options I thought I would run through them. After going through 5 I found one with toning which is pretty interesting. Any info or ideas on how this happens with a new coin would be much appreciated. 2021 D dime 1 by Darren Edwards posted Jul 9, 2021 at 5:13 PM 2021 D dime by Darren Edwards posted Jul 9, 2021 at 5:13 PM
Toning naturally occurs on coins. It is not go spam error by any stretch of one’s imagination. Your coin is normal in all aspects.
Could be an error, you just labeled the thread wrong . How about a image of the rim . Could be improperly annealed ... Also need a better image of the obverse and reverse . With less light on both sides of the coin .
It just looks like an ordinary coin to me. Granted, it may have been exposed to some sort of environmental conditions that aided toning, or it may even have been handled by someone who didn't bother washing their hands after going to the bathroom. Who knows!
