This is another FUN Show acquisition and one I actually went hoping to find. It's as listed in the title but I haven't been able to attribute the die marriages yet. The reverse is pretty dramatically clashed, particularly around TES. Play if you're interested. Reveal in about 24 hours.
Publius: Lovely coin! Has to be no less than 64, with only a slight weakness in the hair holding it back from something higher. Or maybe not…. So hard to suss out through plastic, my screen, and really mature toning. I’ll bet you jumped at it (I would have). Dave S
I see no wear. Just die clashes, and heavy original toning. Definitely MS—it is hard to be specific, as the coin is so dark. I will go for 62. Very attractive and interesting coin.
Nope. I think it's a slider-type, so can go solidly anywhere from AU58 to MS63, and I'm leaning towards the MS63
Without seeing it in hand it appears to have some wear on the hair and legs on the obverse and possible rub on bow on reverse. If so then I would go with AU 55 maybe AU 58. If it's not wear but, a lighting issue I could see MS 63 or 64. Die polish on obverse and reverse could give some people the idea it was cleaned but, I don't think that's the case with this coin. Very nice original coin no matter the grade.
Reveal: We were all over the place on this coin. I can't decide if it was the toning that was putting people off or my usual lousy photography. Anyway, this was graded by NGC MS-65. IMO, those are die lines as @1865King noted. And I think it may be the V-4 die marriage with the Type II obverse and the Type I reverse.
Very deceptive photos showing no luster. I would have guessed much higher with these new photos, but I still have a tough time with toned coins in any photos.
