I'm changing my grade to XF40 because of the pebbly quality of the fields.

Same as most of the others so far, XF45 - AU50, but leaning more toward AU50. Nice piece by the way, and nice addition to your type set.

Good looking coin for a circ set no matter the grade.

Here's the reveal. Everyone was pretty close. This coin looks much nicer to the naked eye. The photographs bring out every flaw. Two interesting side notes on this coin: The dealer I bought it from was negotiating with another dealer who had this coin and several nice capped bust quarters on consignment from an elderly collector who had opened his safe to sell off some assets. Supposedly, these coins had been in strong hands for many, many years. Second note - I showed the coin to a friend of mine who looked for it in auction sales and he said he could see no indication it had been in any auction. Doesn't prove the first point but doesn't negate it either.

I would not crack this coin out looking for a higher grade but I am considering sending it in to CAC. What do you think? Would it maybe get a green bean or is that just wishful thinking?

    Gotta be 1 of 70, I win. I really like it, AU-50.

    Vertigo Did someone say bust?

I would send anything like this to CAC even if I myself thought it would fail.

I was gonna guess XF-45.........baggy, noisy, 'pebbly' (as Robert put it) but lovely just the same. You're holding a piece of history with this one. Harrison defeated Tecumseh at the battle of Tippecanoe.

'Bean' it if you must, but I don't think it's necessary.........just an old guy opine. :)

Please submit it to CAC. I guessed XF40+CAC and I want to be right of course.

I think you should try sending in; CAC is hard on gold but with a coin like that, it's worth a try for the minimal cost.

It clearly hasn't been messed with and I think it's worth sending to the beanery. Lovely coin

The old green label holder is a plus. CAC should accept it.

Absolutely. Should get a green for sure, and possibly a gold bean.
