Used to be that when you made and struck a deal with a dealer as a buyer you can arrange as much time as you want with that seller I have purchased thousands of dollars worth of coins that way. If you get an unpaid item strike or how to unpaid items strike 3 months ago you can't even buy certain items, or make deals with certain dealers.. just something I observe
Not much to be said, you agreed to the rules same as everyone else. You win and auction or buy an item you have a limited time to make that payment if your record showed that you had failed to do so, I'd be stupid to deal with such a person.. If you made other arrangement with a dealer for payment and he let an unpaid item strike be put on you that is the dealers fault not ebays.
But see I made her arrangements with the dealer and eBay said no you got to pay in four days I called even they're like you can't pay after 4 days
Some of the bigger sellers have the Unpaid Item Assistant set up. I suspect that is what you are dealing with. It is automatic if the buyer doesn't pay. It's optional but I think a lot of people use it. I don't.
I just dont bid or make offers on coins that i don't have the money for. I have offers out at most times. I check my email frequently so I can pay promptly. I assume sellers are likely to ship quicker if I follow this protocol. 99.5% do I think.
That's why I'm weaning myself off Ebay. They treat sellers even worse. Hold their PayPal money for as long as five days.
I have been doing this for years: I offer a lay-a-way plan on all sales. If the buyer chooses to go that route, I receive a down payment and then mark the item as "PAID". That way eBay gets their fees right away. I have never had a problem using this plan. As far as eBay is concerned, the buyer has paid for the item within the time restraints.
Appreciate the comments about the four day payment limit. I buy hundreds of one dollar items from a single seller who charges $1.30 shipping. As much as ebay wants me to pay immediately I work with the seller who combines shipping and I pay every three or four days. If I had to pay each one immediately I wouldn't buy nearly as many and would wait for the days when I wanted multiple items ending on the same day.
They have the market cornered on coins, where else can you go besides overpriced auctions? I am debating starting an auction for coins only and only charging 5% seller fee.
Easier said than done but if you could just get 25% of the sellers on ebay at launch..... you could pay for the kids college and be retired by August 15th.
Although I don't buy much from ebay, I found that the sellers that I buy coins from, treat my purchase well. I usually get my purchase less than a week. I use Paypal and have never had a problem with them. I always give a positive rating and have found those sellers that carry the kind of coins I want, I will buy the coins from them, even if they take a days or 2 longer and they let me go if there's a problem. I think that the problems come from buying something that is a little eclectic.
