that doesn't' look like a coinstar hopper to me. they're safer than this contraption that whips coins around in a circle like a washing machine.

Beware of sharp objects I suppose. LOL Did you test it for meth or crack, you might of still scored!

The term "CoinStar" was used generically. That is the coin machine in my local grocery store.

Do you people only check Coinstar machines? Just asking because here in Delaware we have Coinstar and 2 different other type of similar machines in which I find a lot more than in the Coinstar machines. I find a lot of well worn Mercury dimes in them. Seems they miss the thickness and width of coins and reject them. Lot of foreign coins smaller than a Mercury also. Lately I been lucky with key and tag making machines in which I found dollars more than once sticking out of the bill return. Now a lot of them are going to bank cards only. Have not made a good hit in about a month.

Most of the coin machines for the public reject silver as a general rule. Not all of them, but a lot of them do. I never find war nickels though in the return so maybe they don't reject those, but 90% is always getting kicked out along with the mutilated coins,

to be honest I haven't tested this theory because I don't want to lose any silver to the machine, So I might be lying. Hahaha

Welcome back Zoid! Where you been at? This is why you shred/cut up your own salad mixed greens rather than buying the bags...having your own garden is better...stay healthy and post more!

Didn't your mom teach you not to stick your hands where they don't belong, geez! Look before you touch. I have never seen one with an open hopper. Our coin servers have blocked hoppers you can not put your hands in. The only opening is the coin reject slot. Be careful and god luck.

I am a check her purse coin hunter. Always score. If it isn't green rectangle shaped paper with numbers on it, into her personal round metal trash bin it goes, and falls to the bottom forgotten forever, and gathers fuzz/dirt/lipstick smudges/chewing gum wrappers, and just sometimes, a yucky whitish grayish glob that I have finally identified is rice remnant.

Cleanup takes a little while, but I get some serious cash at least once a week.

A spinning open hopper like that is one helluva liability issue for that retailer.

I haven't left, just getting slammed at work. My "helper" left to take a different (better paying) job, leaving me doing 1.6 times the work. I lurk a lot, and most of my recent activity is in the @CoinJockey73 Insomnia thread - middle of the night, cain't sleep stuff.
