Picked this up at FUN. I certainly was not on the lookout for one of these but a dealer who knows I do type had this come into his hands while at the show and thought I might be interested. Well, I was despite the fact that I had previously decided I was not going to include pre-1834 gold in my type set. So much for plans. This coin is graded by PCGS. DSC_1130.jpg DSC_1131.jpg

Anyway, the reveal in about 24 hours.

This is a really tough coin, for me, to grade.
I've changed my grade to XF45.

I think she graded either XF40+CAC or XF45. Doesn’t matter though, it’s a very nice early gold coin. Congratulations!

Looks like it has AU50 luster but I will guess XF45 (silent net grade for the many little tics). I love the color, perfect green gold .

XF 40 ...I went back and forth in the 40-50 range but don't think it quite makes AU (going on the conservative side)

1st I am really bad at grading gold lol... that said...
I wanna say AU but the ding through the lines on the shield is almost a details level ding but not quite.. it forces me down to XF45 Very beautiful coin, I would be very happy with it in my type set :D

I went with AU-50 given the year and coin type PCGS is a little more forgiven on the dings and the grader appreciated the luster still left.

It is a really beautiful coin. I, too, put it in the 40-50 range, and think it might be slightly short of AU, so I shall go with XF 45, as there is some obvious wear. However, it is a coin with a ton of eye appeal, way beyond its grade.
