Here is a pretty clean silver dirhem from around 600 AD. It's about the size of a half dollar. This was an ebay purchase for around $30 I think. I'm sticking the pictures in the gallery after posting them here, BTW. Bone
I've nearly bought a few of thse myself at various times... still haven't quite got round to it though. I suspect i will one day though! Nice specimen you've got there!
I got one a while back along with one of someone called Hormazd IV which is in much better condition.Apparently he is the immediate predecessor of Khursu. Here's a great site: http://www.grifterrec.com/coins/sasania/sasanian.html you can click on any ruler and see lots of his coins. your guy,Khusro is there. In fact,I think Khursu and Khusro may be one and the same just different spellings..I'll check. edit:Yup,same guy.Now we just need to figure out the difference between a dirhem and a drachm.V-coins had both listed for this king and the pics look to be the same size (50 cent)..look: http://www.vcoins.com/ancient/ephesus/store/listCategoriesAndProducts.asp?idCategory=20 Strangely enough,if you look at pictures 1 and 4,they have slightly different spellings of his name. One is Khursu and the other Khusru...hmmm
