Just got these fro Savora Auction 106, 4 day delivery from Munich !

Did not spend more than 25 euros for each. I think they are okay. Perhaps the Hadrian could be better, but for 25 Euro not bad I think

    I like the Dupondius… 43A8247B-6427-4F16-99F9-C915BBD6ED57.jpeg 53457E37-5819-4285-9725-BF8B7FCA3C30.jpeg

I like the Claudius piece but I would have guessed it was an As.

Perhaps it is. My knowledge is limited on these. It was labeled a Dupondius. Perhaps someone else can weigh in and give a opinion.

How do you tell the difference.?

Looked it up as RIC 95….I think

After studying I find this it is referenced in—RIC 95. and is a Dupondius.

Looks to be an As, as RIC 95 correctly says.

Claudius distinguished his middle bronzes by their reverse types: CERES AVGVSTA for dupondii, CONSTANTIAE AVGVSTI, LIBERTAS AVGVSTA, and S C Minerva advancing for asses.

I tend to agree. Mine (similar?) was $55 in 1995 and the time machine to go back would be more than the price difference. Of the two, I prefer the Claudius. It is a type I have never owned.

Great coins at a great price in my opinion. First and second century bronzes are pretty special - you can feel the history in your hand. Mine are pretty rough too - but that doesn't take away from the enjoyment. Excellent acquisitions - you're on a roll!!

..the radiate crown didn't come out till Nero's coinage, on the dupondius, is that correct?..and whats the weight on your Claudius dupondius, if i may ask, and isn't it true that orichalcum was the metal of the dupondius up to and including some of Neros?(even after)..:) (wow, do i hear Perry Mason in there?!?..:p)
