Can’t….. I screwed up when I joined and put my given name in the wrong place. I been stuck with it ever since. One of those set in stone rules. I think it helps them avoid troublemakers.

It's a simple Google search too. The 6 to me was a giveaway, but, I still checked other fakes and the real deal to see the subtle differences.

Up to $3905 with 4 hours left- sometimes you just can't fix .........:(.

There's a 20% buyer's premium too, so, tack on another $780. The guy takes only cash or wire transfer too. No chance to fight it like you can with a credit card.

Same auction, at least this one is stamped COPY. Didn't stop someone from bidding $370 for a $10 copy tho. LOL

These kind of things make me think of money laundering. Explain a $4000 wire transfer to the government? Oh it's for my coin business...

    It's the rare China variety.

I wouldn't shell out that kind of money on a coin unless I did my homework. Even then, I'd probably not buy it raw unless I felt pretty confident in my ability to know the difference between the real deal and a fake.

The Amazon one says it is the size of a dollar and in the description

"Dear, this old Coin is made of Brass; the old Coin is plated with 925 sterling silver. This product is handmade crafts. It is not a tradable silver coin, but it is worth your permanent collection. "

Obviously a Chinese COPY so I wouldn't believe anything they say in broken English. There's also a set of FEs available.

I was at FUN and sitting at a dealer table where a customer was working with the dealer to figure out how to fill out the PCGS form for his grandfather's FE/IHC collection housed in an old Capitol Plastics pair of holders. Complete set including all keys including the 1856 which appeared to me to be about a VF-35 to EF-40 and genuine as far as I could tell with a cursory look. The 1877 looked good but the 1870 was all cleaned and pitted. Some quite nice coins in the set and he will probably be pleased if they all come out genuine.

Not all CT members are pros or experienced with stuff like this. I'm sure not, although I did notice the comparatively large '6' in the date. To Robert's question and in order to help everyone learn...plus just to CYA...always good to initially point out the why of your suspicions/accusations, i.e...the "obvious" and other evidence you see. Thanks for your alert and for taking some action.

Never heard back from ACEF after a week. I guess they have their hands full with all of the Chinese fake dollars.
