Insect damage to my Lincoln cent?

    I got this in change today. Apparently some sort of metallic insect laid its eggs inside this cent. They hatched, and this is the result. I hate it when that happens.

    Inverting the colors on the image looks really cool to me, for some reason, lol.

    It kind of looks like the zinc inside the coin is oxdizing I.ve never seen that before
    and then again it could be alien insects have landed break out the raid

    I see those all the time metal detecting...but i like the insect excuse better...haha

    When I try to electroplate with a zinc penny it looked like that after 5min.

    I'm guessing that the plating was done too rapidly or it trapped some air in between and when the coin was struck, "bubbles" blew apart from the plating and tada. That's what you got there. :)
