Hello all... Just going through some of the coins I picked up this week on "vacation" to visit my family back home...and I've come across a coin that's a bit outside my knowledge base. It's a 1957 (73) Proof 5 Pesetas (mintage of 25,000 pieces) with what looks like a die clash on the reverse die...but of the reverse image (the crown detail) in the fields under the coat of arms. I count THREE distinct sets of images. While I try to image this coin to share what I'm seeing...what would you call something like this? Would it still be a clashed die? An overstrike? Thanks! EDIT: After getting some better photos, and taking a closer look after a good night's sleep, I can confirm it is definitely a clashed die. See below for new images.
Okay, so here is another image of the clashed area - and now that I've taken a closer look at it in hand (plus looking closer at the obverse area over the bust of Francisco Franco, it's definitely a die clash (at least a triple clash) of the lettering above his head, specifically the LLO DE of "CAUDILLO DE ESPANA." Here is the new image I took that shows the shape of the clash a bit better: And here's the same image upside down and flipped:
