To me, the surfaces look like something was done to this coin. It is a very common look to this particular seller's (who shall remain nameless) coins. Not sure if it's over-dipped, lemon juiced (acid), or what, but it just doesn't look right to me. What's your opinion?
Well, it's definitely been dipped. But other than that I don't see anything particularly odd looking.
The coin seems to have a rough texture in both fields and devices. Also, on the obverse and particularly in the left field around K10-12, I seem to see circumferential "somethings" where I would expect to see radial luster. I know nothing about this issue so I don't know what it's supposed to look like.
This wouldn't be the best example, as it's been dipped, but it's mine, and other than subdued luster, it's pretty much what it's supposed to look like: For more, you can see them in Heritage's archives here.
