    Hi guys,

I have this 1998 P Washington Quarter and would like to ask if this in fact, considered a Die Chip on the Obverse behind Washington's head?

Is it very unusual for a die chip to be in this location? I have not seen one like this before...

    Kinda unusual there
Might be displaced metal from George’s hair (wig)
Not much sale value but neat to save

There is a rough area on the wig right next to it, same size

IDB, Interior die break. Sure is in an unusual spot for a die to have a break so more likely a damaged die rather than a broken one. Just guess on my part. http://www.error-ref.com/die-dent/

Yes it is a die chip and yes, it’s in an unusual spot but they can take all different shapes and be anywhere on the coin.
