Hi I just logged in for the first time after being a member but only a lurker for a couple years, I thought I'd share my favorite note with eveyone, its the one that got me started in US currency. Its personal in that the principals of the Bank were my Great Grandfather and Uncle, so its very cool to have a note with ones last name traceable to its origin. If anyone has any guidance on where I can find more of this charter, I'd be most interested in locating more examples. My dad and Uncle both have a crisp/UNC $100.00 given them when they were kids, I'm kinda jealous, the best My dad will allow me is to scan it someday when he remembers to take it from the safety deposit box at the bank.
Most local coin and currency shows have a nice collection of these Types but not sure how rare that issue is?
its really hard to tell from the note because the picture is so small. but from what i can see it is from "THE NATIONAL CITY BANK OF DENVER" of that type I note there was 6660 notes printed. if you are saying your dad and uncle both have the same note in a $100 there was only 300 made. if thats the case those are going to be worth big $$$. i got my info from "the standard catalog of national bank notes" the one i have is from 1982 so i couldnt give you an exact current value. hope that info helps :thumb:
Colorado Charter #13098 Thanks for the reply, I do know that this charter is a rare one, as I have been trying for years to find examples to buy. I sure would like to figure out how to post a large pic of the note. All I seem to be able to do is post a jpeg small thumbnail. I see most others posting of pics are quite large and easy to see.
