1937 LWC with strange border around bust

    I found this 1937 LWC that seems to have a border around the bust of Lincoln. It seems to be either a doubling of some sort or a die crack around the figure.

    look at the seven. My guess is that this is machine doubling.

    Yes, there are several devices that have the same feature. But, they also look like they took some hits. Plus, could MD go in all directions at the same time?
     
  5. I’m torn between MD and doubling. I can see the lines around the edge that are associated with MD, but the bottom of the e in we and the bottom of the t in trust looks like a double die.
