Can anyone tell me what this is? "In God" is barely there. Did this happen during mint process or is it just damaged?
With those teeth marks, it looks like something has chewed on it. Perhaps a grease filled die, yakpoo.
While you've been on CT for 2 years, I haven't seen posts from you, so Welcome Anita. Aside from being badly damaged, on purpose from the looks of it, it is a Zincoln, meaning a zinc cent lightly coated with copper. These coins have a number of issues that people usually think are an error, but more than likely a plating issue, worn die, or other issue. Your cent isn't collectable in the condition it is, so however the barely visible IGWT is, it has no added value (NAV). Good luck on future finds.
Well thank you so much. Not only for the information, but for being pleasantly supportive as well. Although I have been on here 2 years, I'm still very much a novice. I ask a lot of stupid (not my words) questions, therefore, the responses aren't always very nice so thank you.
@Mountain Man is just a pleasant guy, Anita, and we're lucky to have him here. I know he looks real hermit-like in that hat, but don't let that fool you. He lives in a cabin and has to kill wild animals for his food to survive. That's why he has that big buffalo rifle. Did you ever shoot a buffalo? No, I suppose you never did. But those things will hook you if you don't watch out.
