I have a nearly complete collection of The Bahamas $2 Flamingoes in Unc. and Proof, excepting only the 1975-77 FM mattes and the Royal Mint issued 1989 Unc. copper nickel $2 Flamingo. this has been designated with the KM# 66b. In 1989 they issued an Unc. set in plastic but this only went through $1, and the $2 of this year therefore seems as elusive as the mattes. The $2 is not included in any sets, and may be a bit of an orphan. There is a proof silver 1996 with an [ugly overall design] flamingo but it is not the traditional design from 1966 and therefore I do not count it. There was also of course the 1989 $2 proof but not counting that either. Interesting note: for some reason the Royal Mint went back and struck 1991 Uncirculated $2 flamingoes in a reduced size (34 mm) and weight, not in any sets. Why?
