Looks nice enough to have graded to me, as long as you're looking to sell it. With me that's the key. Having coins graded takes time and money, and I don't part with either easily.
my problem is im willing to pay the money to get it graded but i wouldnt be able to sell it im attached to my steelies and if it would get a good grade id be proud of it and want to keep it more
From the photos I can really tell nothing at all. Unless you have a shot at a MS68 I would pass on getting it graded. MS67's value is only around $100, and it would cost about that to get a membership at PCGS, and get the coin graded, and pay shipping and insurance! These coins are fairly common in higher grades, and MS68 is where the value starts to come in. I'd say unless we can see better close up photos, just enjoy the coin you have and don't worry about getting it graded.
If coins like that are worth having slabbed, so is most of my junk box. No way, Jose'. David Hall is rich enough.
I wouldn't grade it unless you have a collection of graded cents. You will never receive the value of the grading IMO.
These are cheap as others have said. About $30ish in MS 66 which that coin won't grade at. I agree with Lost Dutchman. It doesn't have luster from the pic so wouldn't grade. Post photos that show if there is any luster. Teletrade will sell all three steelies at MS 66 as a group for like about $100 usually (typical hammer prices). I agree these coins are cool. I submitted a coin I though was for sure a 66 and it got a 65 for the 1943 D
IMHO.. grading is a waste of money if you plan on keeping your coins. I dont plan on ever selling my special coins cause I'd like to pass them on to my kids down the road. I cherrish every coin I keep reguardless of condition and have made up my own coin grading system. Goes like this. C, PL, N, PFC, AA and RFA. They stand for commmon, pretty Lookin, Neat, Pretty F***** cool, Almost awesome and Really F******* Awesome. Your coins are worth what YOU think they are worth. Not what some book says or what the greedy local dealer is selling them for. Opening a roll of coins and pulling out something worthy of holding on to is a feeling I deem priceless. To me, all my coins are MS-70. Even my 1883 IHC which is barely legible.
I suggest you buy a graded coin just like yours and see which one you like the best. Maybe that way, you will have an answer.
