I am finding myself being drawn further into Indian coins the past couple of weeks. What an interesting history and some beautiful coins, about which I know virtually nothing. Even getting them right side up is a problem for me. Just got a couple of wonderfully chunky ones from the Delhi Sultanate, Suri Dynasty (I think), and poking around CT found this post by @Amit Vyas So I'll just tag in with some copper to go with his silver: India, Delhi Sultanate Æ Paisa Mohd Adil Shah Suri A.H. 961 (1554 A.D.) No mint Legends, ۹٦۱ / Legends (both a little over 20 grams / 20 mm) The thick fabric of these is impressive:
Very nice coins. For the coppers, I recommend Valentine’s Copper Coins of India. It is quite dated, and some readings are incorrect, but still useful for the large part. This was the book that taught me to read these coins, though I also have Plant. The book is out of copyright and a free version can be found at the Internet Archive (including other books by Mr. Valentine): https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.97296
