Not seeing it. It would have been helpful if you told us where you thought you saw one…otherwise, stay out of Papacita’s hooch…imo…Spark
Welcome to CT! If you're talking about the area in the field behind the neck, those are random scratches (imo).
Someone has been trying to peddle the 5 on cheek Roosevelt Dime for a while now. The original price was $19,999 and is now listed for $9,999 This has been discussed on Coin Talk and if I recall correctly, I don't think anyone said this was a genuine mint error. IMO it looks like a strikethrough. As for the coin you posted I don't see anything resembling a 5. Where do you see it? If you check the listing on eBay, you'll see it was graded MS 68 by NGC but there's no mention of the 5 on cheek. Here's the listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/255001808136?hash=item3b5f4acd08:g:baMAAOSw6AxfEOMO
I think the OP means above the ear. If you look along the line 2-8 o'clock there is a deep scratch through the hair detail which, together with the lines of the hair, makes a "5" shape
Years ago, in the Air Force, we were taught not to answer questions when we don't understand what's being asked.
I can't make out a "5". It that mark is raised, it could be a strike-through. Sometimes, images of fibers or threads can get randomly pushed into the coin. If you see a well formed number or letter, it's what's called a "strike-through dropped filling". That happens with grease and debris fill a device, hardens, then dislodges and randomly presses into a coin...but that's not your coin. http://www.error-ref.com/struck-through_dropped_filling/
There's what looks like a large "5" that starts just above the ear and extends downwards into the ear. I doubt if it is anything beyond PMD, looked at with a large dose of pareidolia : Meaning of pareidolia in English ... a situation in which someone sees a pattern or image of something that does not exist, for example a face in a cloud: Pareidolia is the tendency for perception to impose a meaningful interpretation on a nebulous stimulus, usually visual, so that one sees an object, pattern or something else that isn't really there.
Crystal , Have you ever lived in Houston and are you currently a nurse? If so, do you remember Laura B?
I actually see 2 "5"s : the big one I described and a smaller one on his cheek. The smaller one is much like the one described in the video.
Just wondering. If that avatar pic is you, your eyes and tats look like a friend of my daughter (Laura), whose name is also Crystal. I apologize for the misperception.
