Today I was at a very old lady's house today doing some work and I don't know how I got on the subject but we started talking about coins. Well anyways she wanted me to look at coins from her husbands collection. He passed away about 3 years ago and she doesn't know what to do with his collection. I looked over the collection and told her what I thought
about certain coins. He had about 250 morgans that were all awesome looking but were mostly toned brown from the storage in the wood box.

My question is that he has a 1921-S Roll of Lincolns that he bought in 1934 according to his notes.
Did they roll lincolns in 1921?
What would be the value of this roll be?
    Where would you sell them?

    Thanks for any help?

Are they UNC? If so, then you can figure they are worth whole sale of $84-$94, now retail $135 in Red Book, Coin Market $100. Hope this is of help. :)-O)

They are UNC on both ends. The 2 showing have end of roll toning.

I would think an entire roll of uncs would be worth more tha 50 times the going rate. It's hard to put together a roll of unc or BU 21-ses , at least for me.

That is more of what I was thinking....where would to try to sell it.
I already know I cant afford it!! :crying:

A single 63 red can go for nearly $1,000. There are only 163 certified (NGC + PCGS) in red. Even a 63 RB can go for $300+ and there are only 610 of them certified. Assuming yours are red and RB, you were looking at potentially 6%+ of the total population.

Where would I sell them? I think the best place to start would be to call Cave_troll.

Just imagine... a few 66, some 67, 68, and a couple never before seen 70s.
    $50,000, ? $250,000?

21-S is a Semi-Key and a tough coin in high grades. I'd speak with her about getting them certified then take your cut for your time and effort. Or, you could look at the coins, determine the expected grades, then make her a fair offer on the roll outright.

I sold this one earlier this year for $625:

Why dont you buy it from her for cheap?
If she doesnt know the value, theres a chance for you to sieze and make some killer cash. I mean some KILLER cash!

imagine you pay her $150 for the roll a little over redbook.
Then lets say they grade out all to ms-63 and if we use LEEG previous sale as what you should expect to get $31,250 after ebay fees or auction fees about $25,000. Jump on that roll right now! lol geez ill buy it at this rate.

The fair thing is to act as an agent to sell them, and agree on a percentage.

I agree and don't overload the market. You would both do well.

Tell that to a car salesman then.
Plus your talking $25,000 thats a whole lotta chunk of change.

Sounds like you ran into a way to make some extra dollars!! Don't forget, some ppl like toned silver dollars!! Especially when they're from Carson City!. If I were you I wouldn't walk away from a situation where you can make you both happy. If not the Morgans, then offer something for the Lincolns. good luck :kewl:

Because I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I did that.
I looked at tons of her husbands coins and I walked out of the house with no coins. There were tons of Barbers that I would have loved to own.

It is a little different when you have a company and a large overhead.
Besides I don't think they would give $150 and then try and sell it for $25,000
