Here's a penny i found in the register at work over a year ago.
it's very light feeling. and the color is more like a steel penny.
a guy in a coin shop tried to tell me it was a counterfeit penny
made by a Dungeons and Dragons guild in the 80's. hmmmm.

    anyway, whatya think ?

    Found Penny-

Actually it is a cent--England and the former British Empire countries generally have pennies.

This site has a photo of a similar item, also a 1987 cent. S/he believes it to be a forgery, comments the size and thickness are slightly different.

I noticed on the reverse that you can barely make out Lincoln in the memorial. I could believe it is a forgery based on a cast of a real penny. It doesn't seem like the flat background was ever smooth.

    thanks specksnyder. the plot thickens.
mine appears to almost have a "grain" to
    it like wood. odd.

p.s. im comparing mine to a cent right now.
and mine to is bigger than a 1973 that i
    had in my pocket.

It has the bumpiness of a cast counterfeit, but is not something one would do for profit. I think it was burned.

It looks like it may have been in a fire maybe a science expiriment.

The problem is that we have to look to see if we might know - and then we choose not to post a I don't know. 100 I don't knows would be a waste. :) As it is I do not think it is a case counterfeit, but it does remind me of some pennies :) I have found in parking lots.

again, total noob here. i know nothing of coins.
but given what little ive been told about this,
and the size of the thing, im convinced it is some
type of copy of a coin. but, who and why.

look at the pics for size comparison.
    camera noob too :)

I have a zincoln that was in a fire, and it is larger than un-burned cents. I'll try to post a pic if I can find it.

SMELL IT! no it probably doesn't retain the smell of fire.
