a few years back I consigned some of my "special" coins to my brothers keeping (as collateral on a loan lol) Well as brothers will do to brothers, he misplaced one of mine, and not just any coin, but the actual 1st coin I ever had sent for grading (through my LCS at the time).. Well it turned up in the back of his safe last week and arrived today Found this puppy way back in 97/98 in pocket change!!! WooHoo!!! lol I'm just glad it's back home where it belongs
Good for you! I had a couple of those "W" dimes before, but that was years ago. Nice to see one again, and you found it, that's amazing! The 1996-W Roosevelt Dime is the first United States dime which contained a "W' mint mark. These coins were produced at the West Point Mint to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Roosevelt dime series. The coins were only sold as part of a special 11 coin mint set which were also released in 1996.
I pray for a 1996 W. There are some with some cool die clashes I'd love to own. Don't worry. I got my first W in the wild a couple weeks ago.. At the LCS in change.. lol! Out of all places. You'll probably find a few more goodies in your life. To be fair.. I look for old coins.. the moderns are just the bonus.
I have quite a few of these, thanks to inheriting most of my grandfather's collection a few years ago.
Where have you been? If you can even find a payphone, good luck. And then I think it starts out at either 50c or $1 to place a local call.
