I don't think I did great but I don't think I did bad either, I just got a 2006 ASE NGC certified brilliand uncirculated first strike for $17.00. I don't think that is bad for a certified coin. Let me know!!!:rolling:
Here's a link to the auction, the picture sucks but it is a certified coin and is close to melt value. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320467897001&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT:bow:
nice coin, any time you can get an ASE for that price its a great deal and especially a certified coin, nice!!
NGC Certified but not graded! It's just a bullion ASE in a slab with a label that doesn't mean much. Hope it's real as there's no return policy. For comparison, you can currently [safely] buy 2006 BU ASEs from Apmex.com for 19.98 (not including s/h).
yes it's real I went to NGC to verify cert and typed in that number, it is a NGC certified coin, i was curious myself, I think you got a good deal If your happy with the purchase thats all that matters.
Thanks for checking ponderrossa. biggiej: make sure you receive the coin pictured with that cert number too.
My dealer sells me my ASE's for $1.50 over spot silver, mixed dates. But I hope you complete a good deal.
The seller is using first class mail, which will not cost him anywhere near $5.95, so he's building in a little profit that way. I have to pay sales tax on coins purchased locally, so I guess they get you either way.
Yeah. Often, these are from bulk submissions. Any coin that meets a specific grade or higher (MS69 a lot of the time) is graded and slabbed and the others are just slabbed as BU. I have an NGC slabbed BU AGE in my collection. While I do agree that the shipping costs are a little high, you have to remember it's not just postage that is part of the cost. You must also pay for the padded envelope as well as time.
for 6$ he should be sending it priority mail. for a 1 ounce coin First Class it should only come out to 2.50 or so (including envelope). Heck, charging 3.50 would net him a profit. Oh well, I just hate when people do that. Anyway, looks like a pretty good deal for the price
I'm pretty sure NGC does gradeless certifications of bullion coinage to authenticate the coins while still keeping them eligible for IRA investments. If a bullion coin is slabbed AND graded, it is deemed a "collectible" coin and, thus, cannot be used in an IRA investment plan....
all i asked was did i not do okay, why does it have to go off in all directions. i could have saved myself the grief. " Don't buy anything from ebay it is fake and you will lose your butt!!!!!:crying:
you did good, you got a silver eagle in certified grade for less than you could buy a silver eagle and send it to NGC. ebay has some good stuff you just have to do some research.
I think you did fine. You might have been able to pick it up a couple dollars cheaper (with shipping factored in) had you shopped around a bit more...but only a couple dollars. So, I'd say you did fine.
Inflated shipping rates I hate sellers that pad their profit margin with inflated shipping rates. Hope it works out for you, though.
