Hello everyone, Has anybody noticed lot # 14191 in the FUN heritage auction? Link below. I was unaware that Lynn Knight or Heritage were allowing CGX graded notes in their auctions after all of the administrative nightmares they created over the years with the high volume of returns due to overgrading issues. What I find interesting is that this is the only auction item (out of many hundreds) that will not allow a customer return "under any circumstances." The note is graded CU64 and Heritage comments about the center "bend" and rounded corner. So much for CU64.....but then again, what else is new with this TPG. In fairness, this is the older generation CGX grading at work. Anyway, I just got a chuckle since this is the first CGX note I have seen in these auctions for some time and naturally, it has to be controversial. Somethings never end. Thoughts??? http://currency.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=3508&Lot_No=14191
I too was under the impression that Heritage does not allow or accept CGA notes for Auction. Looks like they do...any other note that is noted to have a center bend and rounder corners gets an AU to AU58... It will be interesting to see how this goes....Cave Troll, let us know the reasoning behind this one..is it the scarcity of the note or is someone have some really good strings they are pulling?? ********************* It's hard to tell by the scan, but the "toning" on the back center of the note is common for a note that has been hard folded in the center (back to back), flattened in some way, and assumed that postion for many, many years. If that's the case (hard center fold) I don't see how it can grade higher than XF45. IMHO.
between the discoloration on the back and those corners there is no way it should have graded that high. not to mention the fold. i never really liked CGA. lol guess i still dont:mouth:
This is another CGJOKE note, I dont care how rare it is, If you noticed There,s no "Blue Star" Even with a blue star i wouldnt touch it with A 10 foot poll, Shouldnt be in the Auction, No sir!!
*************************** Well this is another example of what was (is) going one with CGJOKE (sorry to steal that, but that was great!) for so long. I mean, this type of grading is just so common place for them. But why Heritage decided to go out on a limb and sell a note from a grading company so well documented to travel down a crooked road is hard to fathom. And then the no return policy on one note out of hundreds!! WTF is up?
******************** Good point. At least no one in their right mind would by a CGX note on the internet. It's all about trust and integrity...
Wow even for a beginner to paper money I feel this note is extremely overrated. What is up witht his grading ocmpany? Do they do this often?
This does not set well with me at all!! Why you would put something up For auction you know as an auction house that is way overrated and "Tainted" from the start just blows my mind and then to reinforce that By saying no returns!! Integrity has to be questioned here Now the right thing to do would be to cut this note out of the CGJOKE Slab and throw the slab directly in to the trash!!! Send it to PCGS or PMG and have them grade the note correctly, No the note will not come Back a 64!! But it will be graded fairly and correct
***************** Absolutely correct. Why Heritage wants to get involved (again) in controversial CGJOKE graded notes is beyond me. This is the exact reason CGJOKE got the boot from all of the major auction houses in the first place. Just amazing. RickieB may have hit it on the head with the earlier comment about "strings being pulled". Would love to hear more about how and why this note got in. One can only guess how the conversation went between the note consignor and Heritage. Probably something like "OK, we'll let this in just this one time but no returns will be accepted. We're not going through this crap again!"
***************************************** Long story. AVOID. And yes, for preferred dealers. This is why they are no longer trusted by the big league collectors. IMHO.
