My very first 15 cent coin arrived today. Any reason why the Bahamas made 15 cent coins? 20210628_175808.jpg 20210628_175808.jpg 20210628_175710.jpg

    That's cool. I don't think I've seen a 15 cents before.

Lovely coin. For a brief moment (after reading the title of this thread) I thought that 11 cent 'nut' might be back..........

    How about a 15 Kreutzer (Austria 1807)?
Left is the big brother--a 30 Kreutzer.

When the Bahamas switched from the pound to the dollar, the pound was worth a little under $3. To aid in the transition, they minted 15c coins (roughly a shilling) and printed $3 notes. It doesn't seem like either are heavily used, but both denominations are still made.
1966 and 1969 were minted at the British Royal Mint, FM took over from 1970-85, then the Royal Mint did up to at least 2005. It's unknown where the 2018 coins were minted.
