Massive strike through error on 1957-P nickel

    Found this while hunting through a big collection dump of pre-1964 Jefferson nickels at my local bank. Was hard to tell of it was a strike through or a worn lam, but weight confirmed it to be a strike through (4.94 grams).

    Had some other pretty good finds in the $80 collection dump, including a couple nice doubled dies (the best being a 1964 DDO-007), and some better dates (best being 1948-S and 1949-S)

    Remnants of UNITED STATES looks to be barely visible. Could UNITED be visible if struck through a rag? I don't think a rag is dense enough to transfer the device details to the underlying planchet.

    I'm thinking it might more likely be part of another planchet?
