If you want a good estimate on the grade though, take pictures with a camera instead of using your scanner
That puts the melt value of your peace dollar at $13.59813 with the spot price of silver at 17.58. You may want to check the mass of your coin, it should be very close to 26.73g. I doubt it's a counterfeit, 1922 is one of the most common years for peace dollars.
No mistakes I just saw where Collect89 posted asking how much it weighed; I figured he might be questioning its authenticity. I highly doubt it is a fake.
I also doubt that it is fake but you must recognize that fake common date dollars are plentiful. See this post http://www.cointalk.com/t43961/ This photo depicts two fake 1922 dollars containing repeating depressions. (See the contact marks on & in front of the chin). They are the same contact marks on both coins. Very best regards, collect89
Oh, trust me, I know. Every day I find more and more counterfeits in the collection I have inherited. It's great for learning, but kind of upsetting when you look at great looking coin under a loupe only to discover that there are tool marks and spikes all over the place And wow, those are some nasty fakes. lol
