Last year I was contacted by Younger & Assoc. (makers of Harbour Lights lighthouse sculptures) to design a logo for them for their Collector's convention that is held every 5 years. Of course being a lighthouse company I figured it HAD to have a lighthouse, and since it was being held on Mackinaw Island, MI it had to have the Mackinaw bridge and a freighter (Edmund Fitzgerald), only fitting!! Anyway below is what I came up with.... As with most all collectibles conventions they like to reward devoted fans with special items. This year one of the items they gave any collector who had attended EVERY convention they have ever had with a 38mm Silver coin/token (they called it a coin, I called it a token) as a gift. I was shown a photo of the coin and there it was...my logo...right on the full rev of the coin/token. Pretty cool! I was told that there was a very limited number of the coins produced. But I am going to see if they were all issued and if not, I'm going to try to get my hands on the remainder. That would look real nice in your token collection, eh Speedy?
Nice! Steve, I take it that you are one of the creative which makes me to want to inquire if you have any other token, coinage, billed themes you can share with us.
Sorry Andy but this is the only one. I have designed many logos and painted hundreds of paintings and pen & inks but this is the 1st time any have appeared on a coin or token. It was a total surprize to me and being a coin collector I was a little disappointed that I was not told and had to see it first on a collector's forum.
Great job Steve E !!!!!! Yes you have got to get your hand on one of those Coins/Tokens. That is very special.
Why so modest? That piece would look "great" in anyones collection! Hope you can obtain one for your self. that only seems right.
"I envy you Steve - I can't draw a straight line with a ruler !!" GD....... Ok GD not only do you have all the coins I would also like to have but now you are taking my thoughts as well. I guess its time to put the tin foil over my head again. I envy you Steve, I can't even draw a straight line with a ruler. Thanks for sharing what you did.
Steve, You have an amazing talent there. Nice work - if you find a spare piece, when it's all said and done, let us know! Did your original work get signed over as part of the selection process?
Just the right for use, not the original itself. I also talked to the coordinator of the event and he informed me that he did have a few coins left over and hopefully will be sending them my way soon.
Wow that's some amazing work! Congradulations! It does post a serious threat against the "clip-art" state quarters
