Hi, I first thought that this was counting machine damage but this is an uncirculated coin and the gouges are too severe. Has anyone seen this before?
Definitely coin wrapper crimping machine damage. Not a Mint Error of any kind. The Obverse of your Cent was at the end of the roll when the PMD - Post Mint Damage occurred. Yes.. It can be deep. Welcome to CoinTalk
The above posts of damage from a coin rolling machine makes the most sense. It is too small to be an impression from another coin being pressed into it and the distance from the rim seems equal, so PMD from rolling machine would be my answer. I already welcomed you in your other post but wanted to say thank you for such good photos and posting them Full Image.
