I've been on this earth for 37 years and I don't think I've ever lost a key.

 

But I'd venture to say it was AFTER 1773. LOL

Nice finds again. Thanks for posting. I get tired just thinking about the work and hours you detect. Thanks for the exercise (mental at least).

Hehe.. My son and daughter are meeting up with me tomorrow Sunday. Hopefully they can take me to my favorite thin crust pizza restaurant!

I lost my father 21 years ago.. It's always a memorable day when our family gets together to talk about all the great memories of him.

 

My kid grew in the last month like you wouldn't believe.
The little man just turned 14.

And close to the finished product, he was my hand from start to finish. He helped put together and crimp all the cable railing.
Found out that he is mechanically inclined after all. Love the kid, what a blessing.

 

My pops died in 2013. My Son was born on his birthday.
Hope the pizza is delicious. And Happy Fathers Day, we are thinking of doing some metal detecting tomorrow in the Rockies,

He likes the thin crust because he doesn't have to use the detector....the kids always make sure there are a couple of coins in his slices.....apparently 3leaf clovers are lucky also...finding that mercury just laying..the ants were moving it until the "scouts" saw you coming and they all scattered...they know the deal...!

 

Happy happy fathers day, happy happy fathers day, happy happy fathers day, without mom we wouldn't have one anyway... I have an idea, lets change it to "Happy Parents Day." Okay, okay, sorry!

One of the older members of the Metal Detecting club (I was once a member) fashioned a really nice shadowbox display gluing down 0ver 700 keys he found detecting!

I give my brother all of the keys I find. He takes them to a scrap dealer, for the brass melt value. That way my wife is assuaged, when I bring home all of the other odd bits I find! btw: Aluminum is $0.50 a pound, now. Bag up those pull tabs.

 

This brought back a lot of memories, from a long time ago. I grew up (well, I'm not sure I've ever grown up, lol) working with my dad on anything and everything (except automatic transmissions). We were like most families, couldn't afford to pay someone to do it, so, if it needed doing, we did it ourselves. I've rebuilt everything on a vehicle (except ATs, remember), raised livestock, gardens, dug water wells, and all types of carpenter work. Currently I'm getting close to a Complete remodel of my house (just finishing a travel trailer remodel), the only part I've hired out is the taping, floating and painting, because I don't like doing that, and I can afford to let someone else do it. I've had both knees replaced (one twice) and my lower back is fused, L3-5. I'm not complaining, I'm extremely blessed. Thanks to my dad, I learned to work on almost anything? Slowing down, though. Can't afford to keep replacing body parts, lol. June 30th I'll be 74, so I think I'll try to focus more on my Coin collecting! Thanks for reminding me of working with my dad. Now, back to looking for a tribute Penny, in my budget, lol. Love CT!

 

Great stuff. It's good that they have hands on training from that age. Reminds me of my dad because he was a maintenance/handyman for many years. He would teach me all the skills he knew. Today I am in the same field as maintenance/handyman and also a Fire and Life Safety Director.
