A tip for you guys who say you never find silver in the reject slot. This has happened to me around 5 or 6 times already. Approaching the machine I think there's nothing there, but when you get in close and look straight down there is sometimes a lone small coin hiding just behind the raised lip of the return, invisible to passing shoppers. Most times that's happened, it's been a silver dime. Here's today's find:

 

Man, that was close.

 

Although, mine is clad, the exact same thing happened with mine, today.

 

I have found silver dimes and quarters that exact same way. It can be a wee bit of a pain to get them out, but I usually hae a handy Bic pen on me, the cap of said pen is a handy tool for pulling the wee bugger out from the perfidious clutches of the coin machine. But I have to admit sheepishly, it must be some bit of comedic to watch someone picking a coin out from the sorting tray of a coin machine, or digging a coin out from under it. Or picking coins out of the trash can.

 

Big CoinStar haul this a.m. 2021 D Tuskegee Airmen and a 2008 S Jefferson Proof Strike .

 

Wow, that's fantastic! I've never seen a proof in circulation. You must've been psyched. I'm happy it went to someone who could appreciate it, rather than a random shopper.

 

Nothing photo worthy. 19 sticky cents in the slot the other day, and 14 today.
A little warm water and dish soap in a mug.

 

Went to my credit union to get a money order to pay for my cherry pick in the CNGCoins auction from last week(will post after I get the coin) and chanced by my trusty coin machine and noticed these lying in the reject slot:



$3.50 in regular non-numismatic change, 35c in Canadian, a very rare and unusual washer next to the Canadians, and oh - a 1948 and a 1964-D quarter. Getting one silver quarter in a coin machine reject slot is a find, but two is like hitting a lottery!

 

I'm never that lucky nothing around here although I do enjoy finding silver CRH haven't posted my finds in a while but summer is doing me good.

 

I got 2 dimes!

 

I'll never understand this machine!

And one of the silver dimes was tucked in that front corner, as described.

I take the obligatory look to the left and right, before dipping down to check the slot. Although I'm not too proud to return empties, or pick up a penny in the street, there's something about me checking that slot without using the machine, that makes me feel guilty.
Who cares! Keep the silver coming! Lol

 

Because someone who looks all around before checking the slot seems so much less sketchy than someone who just checks the slot as he passes...

 

Who cares! The awkward stares and glares of other people are such a small price to pay for the possibility of free silver and other goodies

 

Exactly! I knew someone else would see it my way! Lol

 

Hasn't stopped me yet! As a matter of fact, I've gone back to look at something that i thought i missed, and nothing was there, lol. Real cool .

 

I've actually had customer service people yell at me for taking coins out of the slot. My response, come and get them from me.
