I don't have one but always thought I would want one. Here's one up for bid now and it looks like the finest one I've ever seen.
Very nice example which I would grade AU55. I only have one as an extension to my early copper collection. Had this one for over 25 years until I bothered to attribute it and discovered it s a 3-D variety which is quite rare.
Don't see a guess from you, but anything from about 53-58 (maybe even 60) is a reasonable guess. this is somewhat of a difficult coin (IMO) due to the inconsistent strikes, and the different die pairs. Remember, this was a privately struck coin that was unofficially accepted as currency, made by a pharmacist/chemist essentially in his basement! So the QC wasn't anything like the US Mint's.
Yes the detail on the eagle’s wing is almost always not struck up completely. That makes grading difficult, especially from photos.
Wow, it's a beauty. I'm at odds with my decision so I will say very high side of AU, in my opinion. It is definitely a keeper! Thanks for sharing.
yours is a 58 if I had to guess, much better than any of mine. This is my best one that is slightly off center I'd grade at maybe fine.
These metallurgical-minting mishaps should rightfully be beyond the GTG pale. What next? Chuck E. Cheese tokens?
