I just got this one in and came back as a grade 70, so that is a good thing. But the first coins in the series the presidents all were shown in profile and looked very distinguished. The Harrison coin looks a bit ethereal, which might be appropriate since he made the bad decision to give his two hour inaugural speech in the cold rain without a coat. I believe he caught pneumonia and died, so maybe no profile picture exists. But a spooky stare to me and not a favorite coin, but another perfect one for the set.
I had one of these a while ago but sold it. Had some quarters but no Indian head half eagles but recently added one back into the pile. Looks better in hand than these quick pics.
I've been wanting one of the gold Indians too. I've been trying to snag a graded one for reference, mainly to learn more about them and weed out a future fake. I read that there are more fakes then real ones in circulation.
We gotta work on that pic technique @Copper lover! So many beautiful coins, and I'm having a little difficulty seeing them! I rest my phone on top of a can and point it down. They may come out a little better that way. Great stuff though. Keep them coming!
Use a new roll of toilet paper. The white color is neutral and helps bounce more light on the coin. The base is broad and stable, the top makes a solid platform, and the width of the roll holds the camera at an almost perfect height.
In my defense, that is exactly what the piece looks like and if you look closely on the reverse side you will see the twin towers in the background. P.S. at work so using crappy phone instead of iPad.
Couple more gold notes arrived today. The Utah and Nevada $50 notes. Very pretty. I am only missing the New Hampshire $50 note.
2 oz Doggaebi silver stacker bar. The Doggaebi is an ancient Korean mythological creature. I like the design on this one so I added 1 to my collection. set
Being that I'm not in the same general economic bracket as most of you all ... I collect lots of "easy-going face-value" stuff. I just got these ...
Funny that it may seem ... I'm a fan of Littleton Coin Co. I understand them and how they operate. I've found and have taken advantage of a number of their deals. Everything is not over-priced and their "Coins On Approval" take 5-minutes to deal with and they give you free pre-paid postage. Anyway ... my last purchase included this FREE "ATB Nat.Parks" quarter. This will go into my "free for kids" stash.
