Increasingly I found that selling on ebay was unprofitable (as well as very time-consuming etc). The new payment system was the last straw for me, so after 15 years I stopped selling on eBay. A pity, as it used to be good and very useful.

You have to call eBay and talk to someone to get a hold put on the case. You can get a hold put on the case everytime theres a new scan as it shows its on the way.

I see these dozens of listings where it looks like the seller just photographed all of their pocket change and lists each coin individually. Not to mention all the fake errors. Ebay has gone to s***.

I have purchased many items over ebay. I try to make sure that what I purchase is exactly what I want. If there is a question, I have been fortunate enough to contact the seller. A couple of years ago, I bought an outside light fixture through ebay. It came promptly and it was exactly what I needed, however, several parts were missing. I contacted the seller through ebay and told the seller what the problem was. I was told that they would ship a replacement. The replacement came within 3 shipping days. Thankfully, it was what I wanted. I asked the seller what I needed to do with the first light fixture. I was told to keep it because it would cost more to return it. I gave the vendor the best rating I could give.
Many years ago, before ebay got bought out by however, I use to buy model airplanes. I never had a problem. Then I started buying some LP's to replace the ones I had that my children scratched to pieces. I had a great time.
Now I have several audio components (AV Receivers, turntables, etc.), but because of the many entries here, I'm afraid to try to sell them on ebay.

I've bought over 100 coins over the past 6 or 8 months. Probably 75% off ebay. Ive had only 1 bad experience. I'll describe it.

I don't even remember what it was, but I'll look it up later maybe. 17.00 coin came and looked absolutely nothing like pics. Complete dog crap. It was the coin...at least knicks in the flip matched. So i kinda went back and fourth for a few days what to do. Honestly as busy as i am packing and going to the post office for 17 bux.... ya no. So i was gonna do nothing. But then i thought about it. He had to know. It was not even close. Sorta irritated me he sold a "just not worth the hassle" to me. How convenient? For him. I also noticed he had tried to bully a customer on his feedback page because they gave him a neutral. Fake note... or who knows. Threatened legal action....all that. Whatever. So i decided to just leave neutral and walk away. Ya not him. He threatened me with his attorney as well. Demanded an apology. Guy is a complete douche. So l filed item not as described just to F with him. No intentions of dragging my ass down to the post office. When my time expired I clicked close case because he finally shut up for a couple days.

I get sellers dont ship for 5 days. Items come days late.... I have a coin out there right now from a big seller who knows where it is? But i know they shipped it. Cheap coin no tracking. I've bought several coins from them. It'll show up probably. I will give it time than just probably give positive feedback because i trust the seller and they answered my inquiry. Its just another like 8.00 india pc. I've never negged anybody. I'm not gonna make somebody or myself stressed out over a cheap coin if your just honestly trying to sell coins and enhance the hobby. I have waaaaaayyyyyy bigger problems.

Anyhow .... I gave the dog crap coin to one of my visa workers who comes in my office to look at my coins when i take them to work occasionally. He showed me some pics of his stuff. He does what he can. He.....loved the dog crap coin!

My point in all this. Dont sell dog crap its rude!

Most of my Ebay purchases are the inexpensive foreign coins. There is a dealer I buy from who sells them in large lots by country. Some of them are duds but he states in the description there may be damage, nicks, discolored etc. As for US coins I buy that are TPG if it is an expensive one.

Doesn't bother me. Been selling on eBay since 1996, and have weathered many changes. I've gotten used to them. Like their changes or not, you can't beat their range of exposure.

I don't sell (on eBay) but have had plenty of buyer and website dealings with them and am not a happy camper. After reading your posts and what it's all about, I agree...it stinks...! It's all about control...now worse than ever.

I had paypal try to keep a large payout not too long ago because they wanted to see invoices from were I got my inventory(Craigslist/Yardsales) it took about two weeks for them to release my money that I was not going to touch for 30 days anyways incase someone filed a claim.

I like the Idea of getting rid of the middleman (paypal).

Often I will look to see if a seller has a stand alone store online and buy directly from them often getting a better deal bypassing Ebay.

I have had both buyers and sellers screw me over once or twice. its ebay so it was expected that it might happen.

In addition to this nickeling and dimeing you, I've heard a couple dealers say they have left eBay because of the return problems. You ship the "customer" a coin, and they return a stone. EBay says "the customer is always right," even when they are crooks, and you get hosed.

LATE LAST SUMMER, an executive at eBay sent a series of text messages to James Baugh, who was the company’s senior director of safety and security at the time. “If we are ever going to take her down..now is the time,” the first message read, according to a screengrab of the thread. Later, the executive emphasized, “I want her DONE.” Baugh responded that he had a plan. And then he allegedly set it in motion.

The objective: Get the publishers—a married couple living in Natick, Massachusetts—to stop writing negative stories about eBay, and figure out the identity of one particularly vociferous commenter. Their alleged methods were outrageous, as were their attempts to cover it up.

    Some of their harassment's included:

They would send anonymous tweets and DMs to the couple, pretending to be angry eBay sellers and claiming responsibility for the deliveries. They would also eventually doxx the couple by publicly posting their home address.

“The result, as alleged in the complaint, was a systematic campaign, fueled by the resources of a Fortune 500 company, to emotionally and psychologically terrorize this middle-aged couple in Natick with the goal of deterring them from writing bad things online about eBay,” US attorney Andrew Lelling said

Three of them ran up a $750 bill at a Boston restaurant, batting around more potential deliveries like chain saws, human feces, and a dead rat.

on August 10, the deliveries started. First, an email confirming the order of a “Preserved Fetal Pig” that was on its way to the victims’ house. (The order was canceled, Lelling said Monday, after an inquiry from the vendor.) Later that same afternoon, Amazon delivered a Halloween mask of a bloody pig’s face. Fourteen minutes later, court documents say, the Tui_Elei Twitter account sent another DM: “DO I HAVE UR ATTENTION NOW????”

I seen that awhile back and it was not the last time they have stalked someone as Ebay has a policing arm of 500 investgaters across the country. One day the goverment will let companies like Ebay,Google or Facebook come arrest you and put you in there private jail.

Have noticed a the same. I recently bought a seated dime with arrows off there. I made an offer on this coin maybe 3 or 4 YEARS ago. Nobody ever bought it. So I decided to throw another offer at it. Was a little leary of it being cleaned. Seller accepted lower offer than 4 years ago. Sent it to NGC. AU details. Thought it had a chance of getting by.
But yeah. Lots of junk. Some high end. All over priced these days because the buyers have to absorb the fees or they’re not making anything . I haven’t sold anything on there in a long time. Add on the fact that now you get a 10-99 from eBay for selling $600 or more and I don’t know how anyone can sell there anymore. So if I buy a coin for 700 and sell it for 600, now I have to pay tax on the 600 and lose more plus lose the fees. Cool!

Yeah I'm thinking of closing my account too. I don't sell much there so its not like Ebay would miss me.
