Anyone using Wizard Coin Supply lately?

    Hi everyone,

Seeking feedback from anyone who has recently placed and received orders with Wizard Coin Supply over the last few months.

I recently placed an order with Wizard because they have had a good reputation during my time reading coin forums.

The package took a while to even ship, during which time I sent an inquiry about it and received no response. OK, everyone is behind so I stayed patient. When I did receive the package, I found several items (ALL of the coin tubes I ordered) missing even though they were accounted for on the packing slip. They never went in the box to begin with, as it was packed full an had no room for the missing items.

In addition, my coin binder pages had the quantity hand corrected (reduced) and a note that the balance was back-ordered and will ship when available. They were NOT shown out of stock when I ordered and it appears they were considered in stock when the packing slip was printed, then corrected later. I was never contacted regarding the back-order.

Looking up reviews (there are not many outside their facebook page) it appears that others recently are experiencing things not shipping, shipping short, bad/no customer service, etc. There are no good reviews as of late, all very bad.

Finally, I found them listed on Amazon while looking for more reviews, and their seller page directs to a link that no longer exists. Not sure what that means.

I have emailed Wizard regarding the short shipment and want to give them the benefit of the doubt while I wait for a response, but this is all way too fishy. I don't mean to trash a company up front, and if there is a positive outcome to this, I will certainly post praise here. I'm just not very confident based on what I could find.

I want to know, has anyone had trouble with them lately? Was there a recent change in the company affecting how they do things?

It's been about 6 months since I placed an order with them. They are my supplies dealer of choice. I hope everything is ok with them. Everyone is having supply chain problems but the lack of communication is really concerning.

I've used them four or five times in the last couple months, most recently two orders in early April. I've always been pleased with their prompt service but then they are about 20 miles from me in Virginia. All of my orders were via ebay.

They always nest stuff in my orders, could the coin tubes be inside something else?

If it was me, I'd give them till Monday morning to reply apologetically by email otherwise call them and give them the opportunity to make it good.

I have actually used Wizard Coin Supply 3-4 times in the last month, once thru Ebay and the other times directly thru their website. Haven't had any trouble other than a 3 day shipping delay on one of the orders...

Thank you for the replies so far.

Good idea on checking for nested items, but not the case here. I got a ton of cardboard 2X2s, some currency sleeves, a binder and pages, and a couple of loupes. Nowhere in there to hide the 30-some tubes.

I will be patient for a reply before calling.

Back in January I ordered $40 worth of supplies. Sent a check and before it had a chance to clear the order was on my front porch. 3 days. See them at shows and always get a15% discount. Don't even have to ask. They are my go to for supplies. Hate to hear about your situation. I'm sure it will work out.

Meow has bought a fair amount of items over the years. twice they sent a album poorly packed and got damaged in the mail. They replaced one, and ignored Meow on the second. And once they sent Meow the wrong brand of coin tubes. And they replaced them with no fuss. Meow would rate them 4/5 or 3.5/5 OK most of the time, and most of the time they will fix any issues. They usually respond within 24hrs. If not, maybe they missed the message somehow. Meow would send another message to them every 48hrs until they respond. Meow has also experienced good shipping times from them.

I only buy Saflips every few months using ebay from them but usually have them within a few days.

This post was literally what I was looking for. I was going to buy some books from there, but then I saw all the facebook reviews and was pretty conflicted. I'm still on the fence I suppose, but this thread this recently kind of helped lol

For anyone curious how this is going, I have not received an email response in 3 business days. I called today and immediately got put on hold for a bit... "we are currently assisting other customers..." yeah, I'm sure.

I opted eventually to leave a voicemail. I was very polite about it, just gave my name, order number, and contact, and explained that I'd previously sent an email about a delivery that was short several items that were listed on the packing slip, and that I'd like to get in touch to check on the status of it.

    No call back yet.

I will be calling again tomorrow and every day after until I get in contact with someone.

100% lack of communication doesn't seem right at all. Based on the glowing reviews until recently, I get the feeling that something's gone wrong on their end and they haven't told anyone. My confidence in getting the items I'm owed, much less a refund, is getting a bit low.

In the meantime, I'd still like to hear from anyone else who has outstanding orders with them or have recently received theirs. If this is a pattern and not just my bad luck, people should be aware.

I can only speak to my own recent experience - I ordered multiple Lighthouse Intercept Shield boxes for slabs and 2x2s on April 2nd from Wizard, the order was shipped April 9th, and Fed Express Ground took 10 days, but I got them on the 19th. I suspect there are supply chain issues with some products due to Covid and the attendant manufacturing and shipping delays.

It's been a while since I updated this. If anyone else has business with Wizard and was following this thread, apologies for dropping off for a while. I kind of got frustrated and simply let it go for a while.

I never had any luck getting in touch with Wizard by phone - just got put on indefinite hold every time. I left several messages explaining the situation and have not received any reply. The supposedly back-ordered items have yet to show either (at this point, I have no confidence that they're actually following up on this)

I was thinking about it today and decided to keep pursuing this even though it's been a couple months. Out of principle, I can't let someone take my money and disappear.

I've left another request for contact via their online "contact us" form, since email and phone apparently are ignored or not monitored. Maybe they've sorted whatever was going on... We'll see if anything comes of it. At this point, COVID is no excuse. I can accept supply chain delays, but not complete lack of any communication whatsoever -- it feels as if the staff has disappeared but left the website up.

I will say that even if I'm made whole, I will be going elsewhere for coin supplies in the future.

Recently ordered some coin albums from Wizard. Prices were reasonable. Turn around on the orders were fast. Was pleased with their service.

Did you tender your payment with a credit card? If yes I would just submit a dispute documenting all your attempted correspondence and listing your missing/backordered items. I'm pretty sure you'll be made whole.

    Good luck.

I ordered two blank Dansco albums with archival quality slipcases, 400 SaFlips, 20 album pages for the blank albums to hold the coins in mylar flips and it took about 10 days to get them. Not a problem at all. I will definitely shop at Wizard in the future. Sorry to hear your order got messed up.

This is very concerning. I presently have an order pending with Wizard that appears to have disappeared from their order tracking database. I have had many orders with them in the past with no problems, even as recently as this past March/April. My latest order was submitted on June 30th to take advantage of a special offer they emailed me offering a steep.discount on ordering the 2022 Mega Red book. As of July 10th no sign of it. So I logged into my account with Wizard and no record of my order could be found. That disturbed me. So I checked my confirmation printout from the night I placed my order. No issues. It was a proper confirmation and an order number was supplied. So I sent a message to Wizard via their website asking for clarification as to the current status of my order because USPS has not indicated that anything has shipped to me from them. Today is Saturday, so I suspect it will be Monday before I hear anything. I normally would not be concerned, but this is all highly irregular for Wizard and I worry about COVID related supply chain disruptions causing issues.

They did finally send my missing items after my last stern (but not mean) message sent via their website form, so at least that's good.

However, it should not have taken several months for this to be resolved, and there should have been communication if something was preventing the rest of my order from being fulfilled. Because of that I won't be a returning customer.

    Good luck!

Good news today. I received a prompt confirmation of shipment response from Wizard Coin Supply on the Monday following my inquiry to them. So, it looks like things are fine. This is a relief. I like this company and have done business with them for years. I can continue to recommend them now.
