Good morning all I posted this before and as I looked at it closer the mint mark looks like a possible RPM I know that there was three mint marks they used in Philadelphia none of them look like what I got and I can't find after researching the same kind of mint mark question... Can a cud develop on a RPM? And what is really going on with this mint mark thanks people IMG_20210609_133909317-ccfopt.jpg IMG_20210609_134604729-ccfopt.jpg IMG_20210609_134122273-ccfopt.jpg IMG_20210609_134628841-ccfopt.jpg IMG_20210609_134551172-ccfopt.jpg

It would be an IDB.. Interior Die Break.
Aka Die Chip. It's a worn die issue not a Cud.

    Explanation

Thanks p.m. but wasn't RPM's punched by hand until 1990 that's what's confusing how could it be break in the dye if they hand punched it

Because the handpunched mint mark was punched into the Die which makes it incused on the die.
Die Deterioration after thousands of strikes will make the mint mark chip away a little until forming a blob appearance when the planchet is struck.
    It's a very simple explanation.

A cud must touch the rim. No such thing as a cud on the mint mark, unless the cud is large enough to do so. An RPM is not really considered an error coin.

I have seen several Die Chips on several SBA's. P, D, and S. They are not uncommon. Thanks for bringing it up. Good luck

Die punched it when it was brand new. The ran the hell out of it. Punch the P. Then use the die
