true , time will tell. Maybe grading services will streamline the services to more customer friendly costs and submissions of bills and coins bringing in novice "slab" desires like myself. One can only hope.
Did your fee include attributing the variety? Otherwise, if you did not request it in the submission, they will only grade it
I read everything on the form offered for grading. I did not see that part of it. This is what I referred to as far as "customer friendly submissions. " looks like I am out $151.33 for a graded 1942-d dime" Live and learn.
I have never had anything graded, but I do know that you can pay and have only attribution on a slab, only graded or both. @paddyman98 would probably know
Thanks for the info. since it has not arrived yet perhaps I can contact them and offer more fees for an upgrade slab to variety error. This is beginning to be a pain, draining all the fun out of a hobby.
I've only dealt with NGC over the years. I never fill out the forms myself.. Too complicated for me. I wait for a major coin show where NGC will be present and submit it there. You can't just do for attribution only. It's always grade or grade with attribution when you pay the extra fee.
ok thanks for the in-put folks, coin shows don't come to small towns and I try NOT to go to "big" towns. (Been to NYC one time, that was WAYYYY enough for me). Memphis is the biggest I've been to lately (about 25 years ago) Won't go back there either.
Come back again and call me.. I will keep you safe! NYC resident for 50 years! I've been through it all!
thanks friend, Tupelo, Ms. (Elvis's birth place) is big enough for me. You are welcome ta come down here and have black-eyed peas and grits.
just contacted PCGS, they will update me if more funds are needed to grade in "variety" category. Thanks for the help with this friends. I am WAY out of my league here. THIS is why I come here. You folks are Great! Even if it's sent back in a "body bag" it's a valuable lesson.
No reason it shouldn’t straight grade. It’s the possible error your looking for and I hope you receive it. This will be a great learning lesson for you.
Hope you get the variety attribution, it will be more meaningful than the grade at that level. Good luck and keep us informed.
Your damn right they are. Love to hear that kind of talk. I’ve never saw a coin taking someone out for a beer. Plus drive
It's refreshing to read your comments. Most people get angry and defensive when they're told they don't have the error, or variety, they think they have. You've taken this very well. Hope you do have a previously unknown variety of 42 over 41 D minted Mercury Dime.
A number of the comments are confusing the 1942/1 with the 1942/1-D. The over date is quite distinctive between the two.
