What are coins of yours that when you show them (if you show them off) to people they are most impressed and in awe by?

It depends on who I'm showing them to. I have nothing that really excites a die-hard collector. Most of my stuff is "seen one, seen 'em all" types of coins.

However, to a non-collector or a novice, it has to be my one and only Morgan that I just bought. Mainly because it's a nice, large, older non-Canadian coin.

I've posted it before in another thread but here it is again:

Great question . . . I have a pretty boring answer, because the only folks that look at my coins are neighborhood kids and other folks -- none of whom know a thing about coins. As icandigit just wrote: to them, "seen one seen 'em all".

    With one dramatic exception:

The coins that wow them the most, almost every single time without fail, are the 1943 steel cents. They find it just mind-blowing that pennies could be silver-colored and made of steel.

  5. Although the only people I've shown my coins to in person is a select few fellow collectors and my family, without a doubt the Poland 3-polker from 1623 that I bought at CoinFest in October has gotten the best responce.

I dunno why, I would think that the 4 ancient Roman coins or the one Ancient Greek coin would have gotten a better responce, but they really didn't. I actually think my mom and brother, my only family I have shown them too, are skeptical that they can be so old and that I could have paid so little for them.

Non-collectors seem most impressed by the fact that I have obtained some ancient coins at low prices. My partially complete Walker collection in album gets a few "wows" too.

I've posted a few of my coins, and this one was the most popular:

The one that I show to coworkers, that has gotten a very sentimental and strong response has been my 1943 mexican 20 centavos. It seems to be a coin that people relate to treats given them by their fathers in childhood.

No awe there, just warm fuzzies of remembered yesterdays.

probably my Omaha Bank Hoard toned coin. I know it is the plastic that says that but it is really popular

If I was showing some of my coins to a non collector, I would have to say the oddball coins that people have never seen before such as a three cent piece, two cent, 20 cent, half-cent, etc.

I don't show my coins to anyone in person, but when I show them online, the two coins that get the most attention are coincidentally my most expensive.

I have shown my collection to only one person......unfortuantely, the police have been unable to locate him since. ;)

This is an easy question for me. If I show a non-collector some striking error like a copper colored quarter or an off center coin, they are usually quite entertained.

Wow! Lehigh - that is the by far the nicest toned coin I have ever seen. Granted I'm partial to cents but still - wow.

Easy to answer for me. Only one non-collector has seen 1 or 2 of my coins. And they were scared to hold a horrible large cent. And absolutely nobody has ever seen my complete collection.

Not my most expensive, but these usually get the most positive responses:
