Bought this today at a pawn shop for $20. Can't remember the last time I've seen a Morgan that cheap - probably two years ago at least. I'm hoping you Morgan Experts can take a look as far as real or fake. I believe real. Weight is 26.77 grams, non-magnetic, passes magnetic slide test (took all that stuff with me). Nothing looks out of the ordinary but the fakes are so good these days. Plus the price. The guy has to have Internet access... So is she Good to Go? Thanks for any replies.
You wanted a grade, I'm not seeing anything that jumps out as wear, as opposed to bag grazes, although the surface does look a tad funny in that lighting. Condition-wise, an easy MS64, may even grade better.
It is definitely a genuine Morgan. It looks mid grade MS to me, like MS 63. Good deal for 20 bucks, for certain.
Genuine, legit, real, authentic, etc...VERY nice for $20! Went to a rural (my area) Indiana estate/farm auction this past Sat. and raw/worn 1921 Morgans were bringing over $40 ea and other regular worn dates were in the mid-high $30s. An 1895-S raw gold dbl-eagle in high AU-MS with beautiful natural luster fetched $2,450...not too bad for a sparsely-attended, locally-advertised auction out "hicksville" way in a county of just 40k. Been debating but think I'll go this way for my coins...no buyer/seller fees, etc...just a flat 10-12% commis (still) to the auctioneer...and by the time I'd wait at my age to pay for all the fancy/risky $tuff of grading, photography, shipping, advertising, extra fees and more plus 30%-plus commission for the big-boy auction house, I'll be way less-stressed, still alive, and well down the road ahead. Please excuse my brain-keyboard ramblin'.
Did you ask any dumb questions when you bought it? I hope you didn't say anything and run home and put it on this site. That is a nice Morgan.
Excellent buy. Bag marks, rim dings, visible scratch on cheek. Low MS quality, you did very well, pat yourself on the back. Thanks for sharing it.
I'd say that's a great buy! I keep looking at the wing on the right. Is that fairly straight line damage? Just doesn't look normal to me!!!!
