GTG: 1921 Peace Dollar

    The cheek, alone, prevents it from being a higher grade. Those are substantial slashes from contact. They could have gone AU 58, technically based on those significant marks.

    Yeah I would say the same. There are marks on the field and the big scratch on the cheek is a detracting factor from any higher. Also bag marks (from coin hits) below the beak of the eagle on reverse. 63 was generous.

    This is mine in my type set. NGC gave this one a MS-61:
    BTW I think the grade is fair. I don't feel mine is 64 or 63 quality luster wise. And has the long mark in field above IN GOD. I would say on it's best day this one could be no more than a 62, and maybe deserved the 61.

    I thought solid 63. The luster decent and I’m thinking the marks may be worse in pics. I bought one years ago with fairly dull luster I thought absolutely au 50-53 and Pcgs called it ms 63
